SECURE THIS PIECE →In the piece Dogmas, three figures—each representing the contrasting worlds of East and West, with myself in the center—are depicted half-buried in sand, silenced up to our mouths and trapped within the sands of time. The composition invokes a realm beyond the material, as the figures are set against a crimson backdrop where knotted threads or sinews radiate through the background, weaving a complex atmosphere. This red landscape, echoing the tension of all dogmatic entanglements, blurs the line between the physical and metaphysical, inviting viewers into a symbolic world. Here, the human figures do not represent any individual but instead serve as universal vessels to communicate a message that transcends the personal. It is a statement against the stasis of dogma—a call to unshackle oneself from doctrines formed by fallible minds that lack the sight of truth.
Through this work, I aim to explore the inherent danger in following rigid dogmas. Dogmas, established by those who were once seekers yet constrained by their own limitations, have often failed to capture the fullness of reality. These figures, immobilized in sand, symbolize how humanity can become ensnared by the weight of inherited beliefs, obscuring the path to deeper understanding. While doctrines may offer structure, they can easily turn into prisons, confining individuals to a singular perspective and stifling the organic process of self-realization. Truth is not a fixed object but a dynamic revelation—an evolving insight that becomes clearer as one ventures further into the realms of honest inquiry and reflection.
Dogmas thus challenges the viewer to reconsider the voices that shape their beliefs. It suggests that the true guide is not external dogma but the inner pursuit of genuine understanding. Just as the sands envelop these figures, dogmas can obscure clarity and hinder the search for the absolute. In this composition, the figures appear as though caught in a timeless suspension, signifying humanity's continuous struggle to disentangle itself from restrictive ideologies. Only by transcending these limitations can we aspire to uncover the singular truth that lies at the heart of existence—a truth that does not require the endorsement of doctrines but reveals itself as one probes more profoundly into the nature of being. Dogmas is a meditation on this timeless quest, a reminder that truth is not imposed but discovered, shining forth the moment we dare to question and to see beyond the inherited patterns of belief.
